The Institute for Advanced Studies in Education is a comprehensive research institute on education, and is housed in the only national university in Kyushu dedicated to teacher training. It aims to enhance the university’s teacher training, including continuous training for teachers, as well as to contribute to the development of education in Japan by promoting comprehensive research on education that addresses, for instance, contemporary challenges in education, as well as focused disciplines and interdisciplinary fields.

Research Projects

Our institution has established six research divisions, including the Education Practice Research Division, Higher Education Research Division, and Special Education Research Division, and has been conducting research projects.
In the fourth mid-term goal and mid-term plan of Fukuoka University of Education, the following initiatives have been set forth as measures to achieve research-related objectives.

【Promoting Research with Distinctive Features】
To contribute to resolving educational issues in the region and realizing a sustainable society, the university aims to secure strategic financial resources under the leadership of the president. It will support ambitious research projects and researchers while enhancing the existing research support system.

Therefore, starting from fiscal 2022, we have reviewed the implementation of research projects to achieve research outcomes that have even greater social impact and characterize our university. As a result, we have launched the following three new projects as well as one project in the Higher Education Research Division.

(1) Student Support Project to enhance the attractiveness of teachers
(2) Teacher Training Project to improve the utilization and instruction of digital textbooks for elementary school foreign language education
(3) Development of a self-support program for athletes (competitors and performers) and coaches using the Movement Approach

Additionally, as ongoing projects from the previous year, we continue to implement two projects in the Education Practice Research Division and four projects in the Higher Education Research Division. Among these, we conducted the following two joint researches with Munakata City.

(4) Development of a program to enhance ICT utilization instruction skills in response to the GIGA School concept
(5) Research on promoting the introduction phase of primary and middle school integrated community schools
