Important Historical Dates

May 31, 1949 Fukuoka University of Liberal Education is established on May 31,1949, as a consolidation of "Fukuoka First and Second Normal Colleges" and "Fukuoka Normal College for Youth", in accordance with the National School Law. Programs for primary and secondary school teachers is established.
April 1, 1962 Program for Senior High School Teachers of Japanese Calligraphy is opened.
April 1, 1965 Programs for Senior High School Teachers of Mathematics and Natural Sciences is opened.
Program for Teachers of Children with Hearing Disabilities is opened.
March 20, 1966 Technology Center is opened.
April 1, 1966 The name of "Fukuoka University of Liberal Education" is changed to "Fukuoka University of Education" according to the change in the National School Law. Programs for Special Education School and Kindergarten Teachers is opened. The unversity headquarters and administration offices is moved to Munakata.
November 1, 1966 Four campuses of the university are moved to Munakata, and are consolidated.
April 1, 1967 Programs for Senior High School Teachers of Health and Physical Education are opened.
April 1, 1969 The Program for Teachers of Children with Physical Handicap is opened.
April 17, 1970 The Health Center is opened.
February 15, 1972 The Center for Educational Technology is opened.
March 25, 1976 The Research Center of Physical Culture is opened.
April 1, 1983 The Graduate School Research Divisions of Education (School Education, Special Education, Music Education, Health and Physical Education and Home Economics Education) are opened.
October 1, 1983 The Information Processing Center is opened.
April 1, 1984 The Graduate School of Education (Mathematics Education) is opened.
April 1, 1986 The Graduate School of Education (Natural Science Education and Fine Arts Education) is opened.
May 21, 1987 The Research and Clinical Center for Children with disabilities is opened.
April 1, 1990 The Graduate School of Education (Japanese and English Language Education) is opened.
Programs for Teachers of Children with Hearing Disabilities, Mental Handicaps, and Physical Handicaps are reorganized into the "Special Education Program".
April 1, 1991 The Culture and Sciences Program is opened.
April 1, 1992 The Graduate School Research Division of Education (Technology Education) is opened.
April 10, 1992 The "Center for Educational Technology" is reorganized into the "Research and Guidance Center for Teaching Practice".
April 1, 1996 The Graduate School Research Division of Education (Social Studies Education) is opened.
April 1, 1999
The following programs were originally offered:
Primary School Teachers Program, Junior High School Teachers Program,
Special Education Program, Kindergarten Teachers Program,
Senior High School Teachers of Mathematics Program,
Senior High School Teachers of Science Program,
Senior High School Teachers of Japanese- Calligraphy Program,
Senior High School Teachers of Health and Physical Education Program.
These programs were restructured into the following:

Special Education Program
The "Cultures and Sciences Program" was reconstructed into
The "Program of Coexistence Education", "Program of Environment and Information Education" and
"Program of long Life Sports and Arts".
The "Research and Guidance Center for Teaching Practice" was changed into the "Research Center for Teaching" Practice.
April 1, 2004 The inauguration of the "National University Corporation Fukuoka University of Education".
April 1, 2007 Career Support Center opened.
April 1, 2008 The "Research and Clinical Center for Children with Disabilities" changed to "Special Education Center".
April 1, 2009 Admission capacity (Faculty of Education) revised.
The following courses were offered:
Graduate School Research Division of Education (School Education, Special Education, Japanese Language Education, Social Studies Education, Mathematics Education, Natural Sciences Education, Music Education, Fine Arts Education, Health and Physical Education, Technology Education, Home Economics Education, English Language Education) were restructured into the Division of Academic Research in Education.
Division of Professional Practice in Education opened.
July 1, 2012 Library and Information Center opened. (University Library and Information Processing Center closed.)
October 1, 2012 Center for Health and Sports Science opened. (Health Center and Research Center of Physical Culture closed.)
November 1, 2012 Institute for Advanced Studies in Education opened. (Research Center for Teaching Practice closed.)
March 31, 2013 Teacher Training Program in Speech Pathology and Audiology closed.

The "Faculty of Education" is reorganized.
The "Program of Environment and Information Education" is reorganized into the "Program of Environment Education."
The "Program of Lifelong Sports and Arts" is reorganized into the "Program of Arts."
Monozukuri Creativity Education Center opened. (Technology Center closed.)
April 1, 2014 Attached Schools Division opened.
April 1, 2015 English Learning Institute and Teacher Education Institute opened.
August 1, 2015 Center for Students with Disabilities established.
April 1, 2016 Student quotas for Faculty of Education revised. (suspension of student recruitment for Program of Coexistence Education, Program of Environmental Education, and Program of Arts)
Student quotas for Graduate School of Education revised.
October 29, 2016 50th anniversary celebration in commemoration of the integrated transfer.
March 20, 2019 Teacher Development Support Center opened.
November 24, 2019 Celebration of the university’s 70th anniversary.
April 1, 2021 The Graduate School Reseach Divisions of Education restructured. (Recruitment for the Division of Academic Research in Education suspended, admission capacity of the Division of Professional Practice in Education [Graduate School of Education] revised.)
