Division of Professional Practice in Education

We aim to develop professional teachers with a well-rounded personality, a strong character, and the ability to meet society’s needs.

We offer teacher training courses tailored to the specific career stage and desired field of expertise of each student.In academic year 2021, we added new subjects (Japanese Language Education, Mathematics Education, Social Studies Education, Science Education, English Language Education, Health and Physical Education), restructuring the division into two courses and eight programs.

The Professional Course in Educational Practice

The Professional Course in Educational Practice, which was established for new college graduates, is designed to train teachers so that they can begin contributing to new kinds of school development immediately after completing the course. The four programs offered are the following.
  • Program in Advanced Elementary School Subject Teaching Practice
  • Program in Advanced Secondary School Subject TeachingPractice
  • Special Program in Advanced Elementary School Educational Practice
  • Program in Advanced Teaching and Educational Practice

The Professional Course in School Leadership Development

The Professional Course in School Leadership Development is for in-service teachers with five or more years of teaching experience. It is designed to develop school leaders with a firm grounding in leadership theories and practical and application skills that will allow them to play leading roles in local communities and schools. The four programs offered are the following.
  • Professional Program in Subject Teaching
  • Professional Program in School Adjustment Support
  • Special Needs Education Promotion Coordinator Program
  • Professional Program in School Administration
The division’s curriculum is centered around the pillars of: 1) lectures and seminars, 2) diverse forms of training at schools, etc., and 3) problem-solving exercises for exploring educational challenges in schools, providing students with the opportunity to learn through engaging in both theory and practice.

Teacher Training Partnerships

We have teacher training partnerships with the two universities below, under which we offer the Partner University Special Selection program in the Graduate School of Education.
 
 Fukuoka Jo Gakuin University: partnership concluded on May 21, 2020, and amended on March 31, 2021.
 Chikushi Jogakuen University: partnership concluded on December 22, 2020.
