Goals and Features of the Course

This program comprises three major divisions of study: English-language education, literature and culture, and language and communication. The division of English-language education mainly offers classes in the theory and practice of English-language education seen as part of secondary education. The section of literature and culture offers classes related to English-language education from the perspectives of British and American literature. The section of language and communication offers classes from the perspectives of English linguistics, linguistics, applied linguistics, and communication studies.

In a world of accelerating globalization, people with the ability to communicate with and understand people of different cultural backgrounds are increasingly in demand. With this ever changing situation in mind, this program offers classes in English-language education, making use of findings from literature, English linguistics, linguistics, applied linguistics, and communication studies. The program aims to help those students put the results of this study to appropriate and effective use when teaching English.
